At ellis guitars we have just introduced a new vintage dreadnought guitar as our standard model.
Soundboard timber can be in AAA grade, AAAA grade and Mastergrade Sitka Spruce, Adirondack Spruce and Engelmann Spruce when available. These features make the ellis vintage Dreadnought very popular with guitar players looking for bottom end.
The dreadnought body shape as we know it today dates back to 1931. It was originally manufactured by Martin & Co. In 1934 Martin offered their dreadnoughts with both 14 fret neck join along with the original 12 fret join version. Compared to the OOOs, dreadnoughts have considerably more bottom end to their tone and they can be played much louder than small body guitars. The versatility of the dreadnought makes it the perfect all round guitar for most players.
